The traditional Face-Lift is intended to improve the lower two-thirds of the face and the neck. Incisions are generally places inside and around the ears.
Mid-Face/ Face-Lift (subperiosteal endoscopic face-lift) refers to the Middle third of the face, that is, the area around the nose, beneath the eyes and around the mouth. Incisions behind the temporal hairline allow the use of an endoscopic (and microscopic) camera to guide tiny instruments that accurately lift and reposition the cheek and soft tissue planes in a youthful manner.
What Improvements to Expect from a Classic Face-Lift:
- Lift sagging cheek skin and accompanying deep soft tissue
- Soften naso-labial folds
- Smooth jowls and mariotte grooves
- Tighten and smooth neck and face skin
- Recontour the jawline and neck
- Decrease neck bands (platysma)
What a Face-Lift cannot do:
- Correct aging of the eyelids and brows (these are procedures that can be done in conjunction with the face-lift for further results)
- Eliminate all facial and neck wrinkles
- Rejuvenate the oral region, including sagging f the corners of the lips
- Patients may choose to have a face-lift in conjunction with other rejuvenating procedures such as a mid-face lift, forehead (brow) lift, eyelid surgery, chin implant, cheek implant or nose reshaping.
NEW TECHNIQUES VS. OLD
NATURAL NOT TIGHT: No longer can you expect to receive that wind tunnel look! Dr Kinal is dramatically more sophisticated than in past generations, using LATEST – CUTTING EDGE techniques to tailor to fit your face so you can obtain a natural, subtle but dramatically rejuvenated and refreshed look.
*VOLUME EQUALS YOUTHFULNESS -Dr. Kinal will restore the volume to your face as well as repositioning the three-dimensional planes.
*PRECISION CLOSURES – Dr. Kinal takes extra time in closing the incisions with absorbable flesh colored sutures in front of the ear so that there is no distortion of the hairline and ears.
Enhancing your natural facial beauty is the main goal of any face lift. The physical effects of aging can take away some of that natural beauty and youthfulness. More vulnerable to the effects of aging than our other body parts, our facial skin loses elasticity due to sun exposure, gravity, stress, and age. Creases near your eyes, mouth and sagging skin of the neck and jowls can affect how you feel about yourself.
Traditionally known as a rhytidectomy, a face-lift is a cosmetic surgery that removes or reduces undesirable features, and emphasizing other beautiful features to give you a fuller, more youthful look. Some of the more common face rejuvenating procedures include face and neck lifts, blepharoplasty (known as an eyelift), rhinoplasty (nose reshaping), brow lift, otoplasty (ear pinning), laser resurfacing, fat transfer and SmartLipo to the neck and jowls. Whether through a traditional repositioning of face and neck tissue using very precise incisions and sometimes implants, or a short-scar face-lift or mid face/face-lift, there are a number of techniques and procedures that can help rejuvenate your face.
Sometimes, deciding what exactly you want to change about your face, and which procedure(s) to use, can take some time to figure out, and can be difficult to do on your own. An in-person consultation with our surgeon is one of the best ways to help alleviate your concerns and discuss all possible options and outcomes. Dr. Kinal is a Board Certified Surgeon and a fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeon and together you can achieve the look you desire. Frequently Asked Questions
Am I a candidate for a face-lift?
You may be a candidate for a face lift if you are a healthy non-smoker who is bothered by changes to your facial muscle tone or skin. To find out more about face lifts and whether this procedure could be right for you, schedule a consultation with Dr Kinal.
What should I expect during a face-lift procedure?
Your surgery will either be performed under IV sedation or general anesthesia. Your surgeon will form an incision along the crease where your ear meets your face. Depending on the extent of your procedure, your incision may also extend upward or downward along the hairline. Your surgeon will thin sculpt and redistribute fat within the face, neck and along the jowl. Excess skin will be trimmed away and the underlying muscles and tissues will be lifted to form a more youthful appearance.
Will I need to follow any special post-operative instructions after my face-lift?
Face-lift recovery takes several weeks, during which time it is normal to experience soreness and swelling. Be sure to take all prescribed medications as instructed by your surgeon, and follow up with your doctor within a few weeks to ensure that healing is progressing normally.
